Jeanie has always been singing. She began in choruses and as a soloist in High School and continued with choral music and vocal technique classes where her main major was French Language and Literature. After University, where she was able to study for two of those years in Aix-En-Provence, she was a vocalist in several bands in and around Los Angeles while finishing up her degree. After graduation, she had the opportunity to live and work in London for a year, then in New York City, while singing in those locals, as well. A stint with Club Mediterranee for three years allowed her to sing with bands in St Moritz, Switzerland, Les Arcs, France, Tunis, Tunisia, Caprera, Italy, and in Guadeloupe in the French Antilles. "We put on full productions for the visiting tourists. It was a blast!" After Club Med, she lived in France for several years, doing studio work and singing at the night club "The Hollywood Savoy". She married a Frenchman and moved back to the states, and had two lovely daughters who are now grown.
After moving to Sedona in 1991, she joined the Big Band Sentimental Journey and has been their vocalist/guitarist ever since. She has sung on and off for 20 years with the Flagstaff Master Chorale and has traveled to several foreign countries to sing with them: Bulgaria, Turkey, Australia, New Zealand, and most recently, Stockholm, Latvia, Estonia, and St Petersburg, Russia. She was the first karaoke hostess in Sedona in 1991, which gave her the gift of a massive repertoire in many musical genres, from Edith Piaf to Janis Joplin. In 1995, she went to Northern Arizona University to get her teaching credential and to get an Arizona Music Endorsement. Newly retired from 20 years as the Music Teacher at West Sedona Elementary School, Jeanie is a strong advocate for Music In Our Schools.
Jeanie started her Barbershop career 12 years ago as a Bass and Bari for the Red Rockappella Chorus. She was the Associate Director for Red Rockappella for 7 years and now has stepped in as Director to move us forward as we improve our vocal skills. Her quartet experiences have been with Sedona Heatwave and Red Rock Reflections.
She is the owner/operator of Arizona DJ Music & More! as a DJ, KJ, MC and Wedding Officiant. And she is now the lead vocalist in an American Songbook combo called The Classics!
